PACZKI DAY

People across the country will celebrate "Paczki Day" pronounced "poonch-key" or "punch-key" on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, known as "Fat Tuesday." A Polish sweet good, Paczki, was traditionally the item eaten to mark Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras (as it's known in French), the last "blow-out" before the fasting period known as Lent.

Paczki is not just another jelly donut. It's a premium sweet good that is super rich, filled, yeast raised pastries or jelly filled pastries. Pastry craftsmen and women at the Pumpernick N' Pastry Shoppes work throughout the night preparing thousands of delicious Paczki filled with traditional black raspberry filling to have available for their customers in Western New York. Customers will line up before dawn to purchase dozens to share with family and friends on Paczki Day!

So whether you're looking to indulge before Lent or just wish you could participate in the Mardi Gras fun-stop by your local Pumpernick N' Pastry Shoppes! You don't have to be Polish to polish off a Paczki! You just have to have an urge for sinfully sweet bakery treats and a desire to participate in a centuries-old tradition!!! Don't miss the Paczki phenomenon-it only happens one day a year!
